Small Joys

Here is recent photo of Little Faith, God has given me so much- but one of my most strongest loves has to be for animals... Faith is my little miracle.  She and her mother were not supposed to survive- yet God showed His grace and mercy.  So Faith is now growing quickly and becoming more and more just like her mother:)   As we say "Spoiled Sweet"- not "rotten":)
She'll be 7 months old tomorrow- time flies!!!:) >>

  2. Miss Northern Bell,

There is an alpaca farm not too far from our home. Often times alpaca farmers will bring their animals to our county fairs in the summer. They usually will set up a booth to display yarn and clothing made from alpaca yarn. My mom really enjoys stopping at these booths. Do you make yarn from your alpaca's wool?

I am very happy for you that Little Faith is going to be okay. It is so easy to get attached to animals. Your story about your cria reminds me of our chickens. When we got our batch of Road Island Reds last spring, there was one that we thought for sure was not going to make it (you can almost tell when a baby chick is going to die by their behavior). It also happened to be the runt and was much smaller than the other chicks. However, the chick did not die and continued to grow like the others, only at a slower pace. After a while, we thought that perhaps it was a different kind of chick, because it looked slightly different than the others (a bantam maybe?). It turned out that the chick wasn't a she, but a he. The reason he looked a little different than the others was because he was a rooster. He's fully grown now and is much larger than the hens. You would never be able to tell, looking at him now, that he was the runt. He is such a blessing to us. The last rooster we had was really mean!

Hope you and your family are having a good week,
    Josh

  3. Hi Josh,

We actually do a lot of fairs and PR events during the summer with our alpacas. And we have made some yarn with our alpaca's fiber, however my Mom is much more patient on the spinning wheel than my sister and I:) So my sister sticks to the loom and I stick to the felting:)

I agree! It's amazing how animals become such a big part of our life!! At our house they are literally the "extended family members" because they get treated like they live in the house (and a few of the alpacas have been in the house:) So I suppose there is a reason why they're spoiled:)

I'm always so encouraged when I hear other animal stories. I suppose it's because I accredit my animals for teaching me some of life's most important lessons- they truly are an instrument from God:) I'm glad your rooster survived- it's very hard to find a rooster with a good temperament. I only had one rooster before we had to give him away, he was so nice- but our problem was that the hens had the nasty disposition:)

Hope your day is going well!
    God Bless
    Cassie
